Jack Knight, 25, has been living on a road in the Downs for the last five weeks - in a caravan he bought for £500. His dad Dave, 60, lives in a van and often parks in the area - which has been blighted by a reported clash with some locals amid rising tensions. Jack quit his job and moved out of his rented flat in St George and says the experience has so far been 'lovely'. He said: 'My dad's been doing the van life for about five years, so it's the only reason I've got a grasp of the life and gone for it. 'I quit my job in January. I worked in education, doing IT support for five years. I loved it but just got a bit of burn out at the end. 'Just under a month later, my housemate was like: 'we're leaving.' Jack's dad helped him set up the caravan, which is powered by solar and gas. He said: 'I worked in the public sector, I didn't sell out, and I felt quite good about it, but it just didn't feel like I was making any progress in the end.' He is currently unemployed and will look for a job soon but says he is enjoying the 'luxury' of taking his 'foot off the gas'. He describes the move as a lifestyle choice but says he misses some 'creature comforts', such as having a bath and running water. But he acknowledges the pressure of £700 rent prices and bills has been lifted. He doesn't spend all his nights sleeping in the caravan and is often out as he is 'really social'. Jack worries about his caravan when he is not there, after a neighbouring one's door was ripped off. Jack has followed in the footsteps of his father to live by the roadside Jack quit his job and moved out of his rented flat in St George to move into a caravan Since moving five weeks ago he said the experience has so far been 'lovely' The [https://jetblacktransportation.com/ limo rental new york city] has one of Britain's biggest population of van dwellers of around 700 He sees a 'whole range' of people living in the caravans and vans, including one family of former dwellers with an eight and 16-year-old, but says they tend to be men between 25 and 70 years old. He said: 'If the council made space, I'm a bit more open minded, I'd be willing to move. But for now, I think this is a safe haven for a lot of people. 'This is a safety net for people instead of being homeless - it really is the next step up. 'Some people really are a lot closer than than they realise when you're in that renting situation. 'I'm lucky. I'm in a good space, I'm positive, and I've sort of found myself on my feet very well, but it really could have gone any way.' Aside from a traffic warden moving on some vans and some inquisitive passers-by, Jack says he doesn't receive any 'grief' from residents or the council. A meeting in St Alban's Church, Redlands, was organised last month by the Sneyd Park Residents Association, during which many voiced opposition to the van dwellers and the council's current decision not to move them. Clifton residents have also complained about litter, anti-social behaviour and the impact on the beauty of the Downs. 'The thing that I probably respect the least is the beauty aspect. When people are going through these tough times, the first thing that doesn't come to my mind is: 'Is it pretty?' but I do still respect that. 'I have a lot of empathy for people here.' The council is currently looking for a permanent site for van dwellers. Jack said: 'If they made something for me and it was official, I'd give it a go and embrace it with open arms, and I'd help other people there, and I'd find my own little space in that. But until that exists, this is that. 'It's easier said than done and I know there's a lot of bureaucracy behind it. I'll believe it when I see it, but until then, I must say I'm glad they're not taking massive action and trying to move loads of people on because, like I said, there's a lot of people that are not as agile as I can be.' His dad Dave Knight, 60, told the BBC: 'Work dropped off [and] I was short on money. I couldn't afford the rent on my three-bedroom house in Dursley.' The council is currently holding a series of talks with locals and van dwellers. BirminghamBristol

The biggest cost driver is never technology — [https://webparadox.com/technologies/ it consulting services] remains unclear scope. Each unanswered question in the specification turns into a contingency somewhere in the quote. A team that does not know what happens on the unhappy path must assume the worst. Investing a few days in a proper discovery can cut the total by far more than any rate negotiation. Third-party integrations remain another reliable source of cost. A form that saves data is low risk; the same functionality connected to an old accounting system is another matter entirely. The cost sits in the other system: undocumented APIs, waiting on someone else's team, fields that mean something different on each side. Ask the estimator to list every external system, since this is the usual source of overruns. Quality attributes silently change the number. An internal tool used by twenty people has almost nothing in common with the same feature set serving a hundred thousand [https://webparadox.com/services/web-applications/ web development company usa] users. Security reviews, uptime targets, load handling, audit logging and multi-language support all add real engineering time. Write them down at the start or you can expect the estimate to move later. Who actually does the work matters. A rate card says almost nothing on its own: a senior engineer at twice the price frequently turns out to be cheaper overall than two juniors who require heavy code review. Ask as well what else appears on the invoice: delivery management, QA, [https://webparadox.com/technologies/symfony/ symfony development services] infrastructure work and analysis are legitimate costs, but these should be itemised. The quoted figure is rarely the full cost of ownership. Plan [https://webparadox.com/services/aso/ best aso agencies for mobile games] cloud costs, third-party licences, observability and a change budget each year. A common working assumption is that a live system requires a recurring percentage of its original build cost every year for updates, security patches and small improvements. Treating the launch as the finish line is the most frequent planning error.
